A successful 1st edition of the French Rail Awards

FRENCH RAIL AWARDS 2016 at Innotrans

Paris, October 12, 2016

The Innotrans fair in Berlin provided the backdrop for the "French Rail Awards" organized by Business France and its partners. For the first time at the fair, prizes were handed out to the top French companies in three categories: Innovation, International Development and Customer Relationships. The contest was open to all French SMEs and mid-size companies exhibiting at the fair, including those not hosted by the France Pavilion.

The jury comprised some of the sector’s largest corporations, such as SNCF, RATP, Alstom, Eurotunnel and British Steel France Rail, as well as specialist rail industry bodies like Fer de France, the French Rail Industries Federation (Fédération des Industries Ferroviaires - FIF) and I-Trans, not to mention Business France and Bpifrance.

The following companies were nominated in the three categories:

Innovation Prize: Mersen, Visions Systems and Rustin.

International Development Prize: MBD Design, Atherm and CIM.

Customer Relations Prize: SEG, LAF and Flexelec.

The prize ceremony took place on the Business France, Fer de France and Bpifrance stands at Innotrans, with the notable presence of the French Ambassador to Germany, Philippe Etienne. The event was anchored by Gérard Glas, Chairman of British Steel France Rail and special advisor to the FIF.

 The winning firms:

Innovation Prize: Rustin, for its underground train door gaskets that light up to warn passengers when the doors are about to open or close.

International Development Prize: CIM, an SME with operations in 70 countries which generates 90% of its turnover from exports.

Customer Relations Prize: Flexelec, for its project-oriented approach to customer collaboration and its after-sales service on the ground.

The ceremony was followed by an informal cocktail reception attended by a hundred or so participants, including exhibitors from Germany, China, Brazil and Canada, among others.

We look forward to meeting you at Innotrans 2018.
